Church on the Move Christmas Program

Over the holiday season, my family and I just so happened to be visiting friends in the Tulsa, OK area. We had heard about a Christmas program at Church on the Move and decided to check it out. We arrived 3 hours ahead of schedule so we wouldn't have to sit in the overflow area. We were close to being the first in line but when we entered the auditorium the place was filling quite quickly. We headed straight towards the front and just so happened to get front row seats. I wasn't quite prepared for the concert style music, quite loud and pumped up. Anyways, the songs were all Christmas songs with a wild twist. I just so happened to bring my camera along and took some shots.

This group was singing and had a unison dance to The Drummer Boy.

As the boat leaves Port Canaveral they have an onstage Sailing Away Performance. Very fun and upbeat.

Foyer of Disney Dream

This is a playroom in the Kids Club. The kids are given an armband and can check themselves in but the parents have to check them out. The parents are given cell phones and the Club calls if the child is ready to be checked out. We found it to be very safe and all activity is logged into the computer so that the parents know the whereabouts of the child at any time.

The Disney Dream is a brand new cruise liner with state of art deco. This is the front desk of the Spa.

The adult swimming pool. I was always up early out taking photos so as to get as little people in the photos as possible. A beautiful area.

My favorite part. All you can eat ice cream. The flavor I loved the most was the Banana Ice Cream. I ate way too many ice cream cones!

Cabana's. Serving 3 meals a day. This is one of the casual dining halls serving three hot meals per day with more than one can imagine. It is truly Magical.

I got up early on this particular morning and walked around the island just taking pics. The Disney Dream is a gorgeous ship.

There are Disney Cruise employees that live on the island and keep it clean in preparation for the next Cruise to arrive.

Each night in the Walt Disney Theatre, the employees perform onstage.

One of the evenings they have a stage show on the deck named "A Pirate's Life for Me" The tubes on either side is the Aqua Duck. You get on a tube and it takes you around the ship in a water tube.

This cruise we took was a 5 night cruise and we spent 2 days at Castaway Cay, Disney's private island, one day at the Bahamas and 1 day at sea. We got off the boat at the Bahamas and taxied over to the Atlantis Hotel and spent the day at this absolutely beautiful hotel overlooking the ocean.

I've begged, I've pleaded, I've yearned to visit New York. My sister works for Southwest Airlines and a while back they sent her to New Jersey and she was given a beautiful hotel suite overlooking the railroad tracks in New Jersey. Anyway, it was first class and brand new too. She called and invited us to come. I was thrilled. So Madison, my Dad and I boarded a plane and flew into New Jersey. When we arrived we took a monorail to the shuttle and then on to the hotel.

Now, I must say, it was quite a trip getting from New Jersey to the streets of New York. I'll make it simple. We catch the hotel shuttle to airport parking garage, catch the bus to New Jersey Penn, NJ transit to New York Penn station, at Penn you get on a subway to the wherever you choose to go. Now, if you want to spend money, you can just stay in a hotel on Times Square, but I wanted to keep my money and travel half of my day!!! I'll describe New York with a few choice words. Walk, walk and walk and walk, walk and walk. It was so fun walking though, seeing all the sites along the way. My feet felt like the thick end of a turkey drumstick when we finally said our fare wells but I'd go back because "I Love New York."

I can't imagine what it would be like having two boys. Just thinking about it almost makes me cringe. I was the middle child and I had one brother that tormented the life out of my sister and I. It seemed that his arms were as long as they needed to be at the moment in which he chose to impart his torture. Having a boy and a girl myself is hard enough. She is the motherly type and he is getting at the age in which he knows he no longer has to obey. I'll have to admit, boys are so different and they have a way in which they snuggle really close to a mothers heart.
Josh and David, said they weren't nervous for this photo shoot but I was. Seriously... where does one begin. Well, I began with making them put orange road cones on their head and was so nervous I called them pink. That's all it took to break the ice and from then on, it flowed. Fun.

Today was a special day. How exciting it was to get a call from Samuel's dentist telling me how much she loved my work and she wanted to bring her girls over for a photo shoot. These little girls were super cute in many ways. Addie has already decided just what she's gonna do and little Haven was intent on keeping Addie going in the right direction. Haven was a little poser and her oohs!!!!! were so cute when she got to preview some of the photos on the spot. I think Addie had a specific amount on time alloted for the shoot and when it was over, it was over. I was rolling with excitement with each perfect shot and have to say, it was a good day.

These were the cutest little students. They were so obedient and cooperative. Once I took their group photo I asked them if they wanted to throw their hats in the air. They lit up like light bulbs and were eager to do it one more time. I love this pic with all the cutest expressions on each face. It rained, it poured and it rained some more. Amanda and I passed texts and phone calls throughout the day wondering if we should just call the session off. I hated to put it off due to Amanda's schedule for the next few weeks. So we just decided to see what we could come up with. The rain was coming down as we were unloading props and photo equipment and I was somewhat skeptical. It was dark outside, complete dungeon like clouds and the only choice I had was to rev up that ISO so that I could get some light on Amanda and Cason. About 15 minutes into the shoot, the rain let up to a very slight drizzle and we ran for it. Amanda and Cason were a great couple to work with and ever so willing to try anything, including walking in rain puddles. I actually had some fun and learned a lot that hopefully I can use in the future. There were so many great ones but these were my favorites. Enjoy!

Emily. What can I say. I love love love this little gal. She's been an all time fav for 12 years. She is a few months older than my Madison. She just became a sister to a little boy named Mason. A very special thing happened in the lives of many people yesterday. A little girl named Allie was born to some very special friends of ours. Jaxon is officially a big brother now. Allie arrived just a little early but I think she was perfectly on time. I spent some time with Allie's mom today and made a makeshift studio right there in the hospital room. Enjoy a few of my favorites.

Jaxon just a few years ago. I love this little guy. His mommy tells me all the neat things that he says from time to time and I think we have a genius on our hands.

The day before Allie was born her daddy Jason had a 4 wheeler accident and cracked two of his ribs so he is spending his time in the spare bed while Angie is tending to Allie. Don't worry though, cause grandma Herring is busy coming and going and caring for her kiddos. I think she is right in her element, don't ya think?

I snuggled her up with her blanket and contented she became.

I think my heart thumped a little harder on this maternity shoot. I'll have to be honest, this was the first time I have done maternity and I have spent the last week preparing for this one. It all started with a call from Christy wanting me to take her infant photos when he arrives. Next she called wanting maternity. I eagerly said "yes!" I knew I had to get my lighting system up and running so this morning I climbed the ladder into the attic to retrieve my strobe lights. I am a natural light photographer and could have done natural light on this session but I had something else in mind. I also awoke early and went shopping at the fabric store and went in search of a black background. On the way home I was having a hard time keeping my excitement contained so I said a prayer. Well, I believe it worked. Christy was a quiet but beautiful mother to be. She was ever so willing to put her trust in me. I love these photos and I hope you enjoy them as well.

Yippee! I finally made up my mind that I was going to stop everything and post Miss. Hadley. Hadley came into this world a wee bit early. She was born December 13th at 31 weeks and 6 days old. It was a joy to visit her when she was newborn and also while in NICU. Hadley and I have something to celebrate, she is out of the hospital and the security team didn't keep me locked up IN the hospital. For clarification, see earlier post here.

Las Vegas!

Las Vegas has 3 monorails. This one travels north and south from one end of the city to the other with about 7 or 8 stops. Not quite like the Disney monorail because on the Disney monorail everything you see is perfect lush gardens and hotels. The Las Vegas Monorail travels above a lot of buildings and the rooftops are a little to be desired.

The foliage is beautiful. I wish I could have gone during the spring months.

The MGM Grand, quite a beautiful complex. This is where the WPPI convention was held. It took me 15 minutes to walk from the self parking deck to the photography convention. I actually made the trip a total of 6 times!

The lion featured outside the MGM hotel.

Taxis by the millions and enough money will get you there first class.

A statue made out of jelly beans.

A total of 6 lanes running each direction, including the turning lanes. All the foot traffic is kept off of the streets by keeping pedestrians in the hotel and casinos, with bridges, escalators and elevators moving people from one hotel to the next.

The traffic is minimal because most people park and travel on foot.

Interested in betting on a horse to win? Well, they've thought of it all.

The hotel lobby at Caesars Palace. This hotel did not impress me that much.

The Forum Shops, a part of Caesars Palace.

This is the Venetian Hotel. I believe this is a relatively new hotel. It has a gondola ride on the 2nd floor as well as outside. The ceiling on the 2nd floor is painted as though you are outside with beautiful blue skies. Breathtaking!

The half-mile ride lasts about 14 minutes and is a great way to get a unique view of the shops. Surrounded by a ceiling emulating blue sky as well as architecture inspired by Venice landmarks, a gondola trip down the Grand Canal delivers a unique Vegas experience.

We rode a short distance away to visit the Hoover Dam. My camera lens was not adequate to capture such a large structure.

It is hard to believe that our people, almost 70 years ago was able to endure the many hardships that it took to build this amazing structure. I can't help but think that we take so much for granted. I don't think that there is a structure in any other country that can compare.

My Dad. He will talk to anyone and everyone. It is amazing how many re-incarnations of Elvis that had cropped up all over the place.

Ha! This girl I noticed sitting a few seats ahead of me. I about fell over. She looks so much like my sister. With tears of joy I was mesmerized by the excitement that I saw on my friends face, as she held this long awaited child. She and I have girls 4 months apart and have shared many joys together over the years. Mason is now a little brother to 2 older sisters and now he'll have 3 mothers to tend and care for him, I'm sure he'll be well tended to, congratulations to my friends, little Mason will be adored by all.

During our Thanksgiving break I visited my sister in Dallas. My niece Shelby and I went to a local mall close by. It turned out to be one of the coolest malls I have ever visited. I would say that most people would have called it weird, dull or maybe way out but I loved the way they used art as the overall theme. I love art. My father has been a painter for as long as I can remember. My mother is a seamstress, dedicated to altering clothing and wedding dresses. So, I see objects from a lopsided point of view. I haven't always been this way but as I have gotten older, I am mesmerized by creation, whether it was a creation by God or by man. I just love things that sync but yet bring interest. So, while my niece was about shopping, I visited a Anthropologie store and spent a solid two hours just amazed at the art that was weaved in among their goodies for sale. So yesterday, I had a wedding gift to purchase so I knew right away what I wanted to buy for this soon to be bride. While shopping, I came across this dome shaped butter dish. It would be perfect for 1/2 stick of butter. I like to leave my butter in a butter dish but I find that a full stick stays out too long so a smaller dish one would be a great idea. So yesterday, Madison and I went to our local Anthropologie store and browsed around and bought a butter dish, { one for me :)} and one for the bride to be.

P.S. I bet you wouldn't believe it if I told you I took my camera with me.

A week or so after Christmas, I went into our local Tipton and Hurst to browse and check out the bargains. I came across this hat, gloves and a pom-pom string. The sale was 80% off of the regular price so I snatched it up not really sure what I would do with it. Today, I was a busy bee, roaming about cleaning every nook and cranny with many more nooks and crannies to go. Well I was feeling a slight weary and decided to lie down for a short while. So while lying there the wheels of creativity began to flow and I called for Madison to hurry, we had some work to do. I coerced her into jazzing up for me so that I could improve on my photography skills. She moaned, wailed and threw her self about but I bargained with her that she could wear a pair of shoes that was 14 inches high. A look of complete surprise came over her and at that moment I knew I had won. Matt is a blast to photograph and will do all that I ask and more which makes it so much fun. The hat is what blew me away and makes her my little elf for the day, even if we are a month delayed.

New January snow

Yesterday, as the snow began to fall, I was standing in line at Kroger. From the looks of things, you'd have thought each and every shopper was preparing for a soon coming natural disaster. The Kroger employees were feverishly stocking the shelves, the meat department was wheeling out racks of freshly cut meat and it was obvious people were not thinking about New Years resolutions, losing weight! Somehow, deep down, I had this feeling that this was a snow that was going to be a short lived excitement. In fact, I had a sixth sense that before the day was over, we were going to see the sunshine. And so it was. But, while the beautiful puffs fell and as I pulled out of the parking lot, my eyes began to naturally skim about for a unique photo. It was a wet snow, so I didn't want to get out tramping about so I just disobeyed all the rules of the road, pulling right up to the location in which I could roll down my window and snap away in the warmth of my car. I drove about in the River Ridge area of Little Rock and just loved how the wind had blown the snow and how it all settled on the limbs of the trees with such uniqueness. The deep contrast of the water drenched limbs against the snow that was blown on the other side of each limb. I love the beauty of nature and think that I kinda walk through life somewhat dizzy, simply because I am forever looking for the beauty in the creation instead of paying attention to the very next step I have to take.

New Years Day started off great for me. I had the opportunity to visit a dear friend, Judge Melissa Gilbert, had a photo shoot with 9 kiddos, shopped some with Madison and got to see Little Miss Hadley for the second time. Hadley is 19 days old today and weighs about 4 lbs. She was born on December 13th at 31 weeks and 6 days old. She is still at UAMS. Madison and I went to the hospital to see her tonight. We were told that Madison was too young to go back so the receptionist told her to wait in the waiting room. Well this waiting room was on the same floor and consisted of 4 chairs. Madison had my iphone and was sitting there so nice and orderly, just as she always is, when one of the nurses came by and saw her sitting there. She stopped and asked her how old she was. Madison replied 12. She told Madison that she was too young to be baby sitting herself and that she was going to go get her mother. The nurse came in and asked me if I had a girl sitting in the waiting room. I replied Yes. Well, I was informed that the rules are for them to call a code pink, that's missing children's code, I guessed. I was okay but Madison was like so beside herself. I think she was a little insulted. Well anyhow, to make a long story short, I could have ended my day with DHS, LRPD and UAMS on my case hot and heavy for leaving my 12 year old in the labor and delivery waiting room all by herself. O brother, what can I say...
Anyhow, I captured these precious photos by the skin of my teeth, Isn't she adorbls?

Our Disney trip, 2010

Yes, once again we took to the skies for Disney World. Madison and Samuel looks forward to the hustle and bustle, the lights and action that Disney offers. For me, I am beginning to think more about an Alaskan Cruise. Something a mite calmer, something that doesn't twist and turn me upside down, and keep me out all hours of the night. So we left by plane and checked into one of Disney's All Star Resorts. The first day, we took a guided tour and never contemplated joining the Disney Vacation Club. Wow, now thats lots of money! We were actually wasting time, waiting for my sister and my mother to arrive. We were ready then to go to Mickey's Very Merry Christmas party. The park shuts down at 4 and all guests that don't have a ticket/wristband are not allowed to participate in any of the attractions. The park closed at midnight and so did we.

Next we drove to Cape Canaveral and boarded the Disney Wonder and set sail for the Bahamas.

Taxied to the beautiful hotel, the Atlantis. The Atlantis is a beautiful hotel with a giant water park, a aquarium and a full casino. Five buildings in all. One of the buildings has a suite that goes for 25,000 per night and is rented for 4 nights and then the next customer waiting in line checks in. It stays full year around! No Way!

I am in a tunnel inside the aquarium.

There are 3 of these types of slides. Two of them you just lay on your back and one of them you use an inner tube. The one where you lay on your back is frightening! Once you are seated ready to slide you try to look ahead to see where you are going but the drop is so steep it is impossible. You just take a leap of faith. Samuel, bless his heart was so brave and yes, he did it. It doesn't hurt in anyway, it is just scary!

The photo is slightly over exposed but the dude is cleaning the glass in the aquarium and he sees Samuel and gives him the peace sign with his two fingers, Samuel, gives it right back to him. :)

The one with the tube takes you through a tunnel with sharks and all kinds of fish around you. I hope you can see the tubers.

The next day the Disney Wonder stops off at Castaway Cay, Disney's own private island. The only guests that are on this island are the ones that are on the Cruise Line. All food is provided and lots of things to do such as parasailing, snorkeling, jet skiing, or just laying in a hammock reading a book and watching the kiddos play in the sand.

Samuel is 7 now and he is either climbing up something or he is shooting someone with anything he can get his hands on, help me mama! One good thing is that he is quiet about it, pure sneaky. He's up the pole or you've been shot before you know it. He says he is not going into the military, maybe that's good news, I don't know. He would be a valuable candidate.

I love my Mickey Crocs. I bought 2 pair 2 years ago at Disney and they are so comfy. The only regret is, I wish I had bought 3 pair.

Samuel played nearly all day in Scuttles Cove, the sand yard for kids. He loves it! The workers come off of the boat and spend the day playing all kinds of games with the kids. We check him in and he can't leave until we pick him up. Now that's a vacation.

Ok, so if you have more money to spend, just rent a Cabana for the day. These are small houses that are private and have their own private beach. oooo.... aaaaaa........ That is a famous saying during the whole cruise.

As always, there is a time to say good bye and clean up the party. This water is cold, maybe he will be a navy seal one day...

Meanwhile back on the cruise liner, the lobby is bustling with excitement. Mickey and Minnie are non-stop with their famous autographs. Families are having a photo shoot. The piano is alive with "Have yourself a Merry Little Christmas...."

See, no sooner does he gets to the bottom of the slide he begins to scope the situation out, oh brother. Hi Ho, Bonjour Samuel, it's off to the Marine Corp you go.

Each night our waiter performs a trick or treat. Mike agrees to this one. Two plates, ketchup and some words that go gooble di gop. Then he smashes both of their hands into the ketchup. Ewwwwww....

The waiter, Teddy, shows not remorse either. We all get to laugh. It was a great time each night at the dinner table.

And a big round of applause to the head waiters, waiters, cooks, head cooks and the lists goes on and on.

This is pirate night. Everyone "willing" gets a scarf to put on their heads. A large percentage of the folks on the boat dress like pirates and at 10 p.m. on the top deck they have a pirate party with a full dessert buffet, ice sculptures and lots noise. Samuel is not in this photo because he is in the Oceaneer's club getting himself painted up like a pirate. Now it all comes together, he's gonna be a pirate some day:(

My dear niece Shelby. She and I are like peanut butter and jelly. We go together like hot chocolate and marshmallows. We are so much alike, in so many ways. Shelby is a senior this year, so be sure to congratulate her. She lives in Dallas Texas and I really do believe that she will go to work for Southwest Airlines, just like I tell her to.... right Shelby? Well whatever! I love her and know that she will do the right thing no matter what. Congratulations Shelby. P.S. She's getting a Mac Book for graduation! And she knows it. Bah Humbug.

The Genesis Workshop

My Mom and I flew over to North Carolina back in September so that I could attend a photography workshop. Melanie Mansfield coordinated the workshop and invited 3 awesome photographers to teach about lighting, posing and how to step outside of the norm to capture unique photos. Click on the Genesis link to see the full group photo. I have been wanting for some time to post some of the images of the workshop as well as some of the photos I captured of the models that the Mansfield's brought to the workshop. All of the lighting set up was not my own and all of the posing was done by the instructors. These photos are not intended to take away from the instructors professionalism. I had a great time, met a lot of nice folks and was ever so pleased to meet Sam Hassas. Hassas is from the San Hosea area in California. He has an outstanding business and I have a great respect for his professionalism. It was quite interesting that his Pastor, Bro. Shoemake was a special speaker at our church the Sunday after we returned and I was honored to meet him and we exchanged information about the past workshop in which I met Sam. Needless to say he is quite proud of Hassas's accomplishments. Bro. Shoemake has some wonderful youth in his church that is very dedicated to the bus ministry (the blue bomber crew) and here are some of the photos that Sam Hassas took of this ministry. BTW does anyone recognize the young man in the yellow jacket? Their wedding photos were off the chart.

The couple standing together are the models and the others look like they just dropped some mail off at the P.O. and are headed back to work. I love the way he had the buckets on his head!

We were close to a very nice complex in which all the local kids could bring their skateboards and one of the photographers posed the couple lying down with this kid having fun on his skateboard. Neat idea, I thought.

I very much like Tony Hoffer and his wife. Tony spoke to a group of us gathered at the Carolina Theatre and he made me see photography in a whole different light. I hope that I take his advice and use it in my photography for years to come. His opening photo on his website will blow you away. He said that he was out shooting a couple's engagement photos and they knew that rain was in the forecast, so the Bride to be brought along her umbrella. If I remember correctly, the rain never began until the session was over and they were in their cars driving away. So shortly, the Bride calls Tony and says is it too late to capture us in the rain and so they stopped in a parking lot, got out, the Bride and Groom posed and Tony quickly too his best shot and it is an all time winner! Tony Hoffer gave us assignments of different poses. My assignment was to shoot low and make it a romantic shot. We were to choose one of the models and go capture our best shot. I chose the couple and this is the photo that I captured

Evan Baines was a studio light genius. He taught us some great tips on flash photography.

The above photo is Melanie Mansfield's office assistant. She was sweet as honey and quite beautiful. This may not be a "technically" correct photo, (sorry Evan) but I think it really portrayed her and her awesome personality.

While we were in Durham my Mom and I spent some time touring Duke University. The University is
a very large complex, almost and quite possible a complete city in itself. We could see the Chapel looming in the distance and couldn't resist. Here are some shots. It is amazing, all the carved wood work, marble and mass amounts of concrete. There was one man sitting about halfway up, praying.

Samuel is into to climbing, and I mean climbing everything. I remember the freedom that I felt when I was 20 feet above the world and the elation that came with it. My dad has only one brother, his name is Calvin. Calvin has 2 boys, Jeffrey and Phillip. There were three of us, Stanley, Me and Stephanie. Our family has visited Calvin or they came to visit us about once a year for as long as I've known. I was fortunate to spend time with my cousin Phillip, and Lisa, his wife and their little boy Cooper. Phillip also has one other son, Sebastian. It was fun getting them out for some fun family photos. Lisa is a graphics designer, so she and I worked together on the Pioneer Woman edit, amidst all the fun and excitement on Thanksgiving day.

This is Cooper, my 2nd cousin. We were lucky to spend some time with this little man

Ha! Got them all dressed up to take them to Portrait Innovations to get their photo taken. I know it's crazy but they just won't act right for me when I take their photo. Sometimes I want to pinch their heads off. Samuel does not play the guitar but he had to take it with him on the day. I secretly brought my camera with me and we stopped along the way and the grunting and groaning began. I take one shot and Bam! they thinks that is all we need and the frowns and funny faces began. It did turn out pretty well, maybe cause they had something different to look forward to. I actually liked some of the pics that Portrait Innovations offered me. My kids just smiled and acted so mannerly.

Madison and her Mom stopped by today so that she could have her cap and gown photos
taken. A while back I was fortunate to go to N. Carolina for a photography workshop.
Melanie Mansfield, Evan Baines, Sam Hassass and Tony Hoffer were the instructors and
Evan was the one that really tweaked my interest in studio photography. I have had my
lights for some time now but left them packed away. Since I attended the workshop, I have
taken one of my lights out and have been working at the basics of studio light. Since it was
too dark to take the photos outside, I just had Madison sit on a stool and set my camera and
it seems so easy.

Several months back I received a call from a young lady in Oregon inquiring whether or not I would be willing to come to Oregon to shoot her wedding. Having been to Oregon on two occasions already I eagerly replied YES!

So this past Wednesday my mom and I boarded a plane headed for Oregon. Once we arrived, we decided to visit the Grotto, a Catholic shrine and a botanical garden, and wow so lovely and impressive! The temp was hovering around 65 degrees and the sun was close to setting. By the way, my favorite time of day. Then we checked into our room, found a local mall, ate a bite and just happened upon a Goodwill store. What a combo! Thursday morning, 5 a.m. we were up and running. We traveled into the mountains, all the way to Mt. Hood's Timberline Lodge. a breath taking experience. I can't describe it any better.

We wandered back down the mountain and saw a little sign that said "Alpacas" turn here. We were ready for some adventure, so that is just what we did. It was an Alpaca farm, started 11 years ago by a man and his wife. The Alpacas were having lunch in the barn and I fell in love with those sweet little faces. The Alpacas have to be sheared once a year and the fur is sent off to be spun into Alpaca yarn. This farmer and his wife sell the yarn at a quaint store right next to their home as well as online. They were very, very nice folks indeed.

While we were making our way to the Alpaca farm we saw apple and pear orchards. I really wanted a pear but just getting out and snatching one was "just not right" so, we made a u'ey in search of someone that would give us permission to pick a pear. We ran into an elderly gentleman as he was preparing to take a truck load of pears to the warehouse just up the road. We learned that he came home from the war in 1947 and bought his property and started raising apples and pears. He told us all about the different kinds of pears he grew and loaded our bag down with 3 different types. It was funny though, cause I had been taking pics throughout our journey and as he was talking to us I was pointed my camera at him and that stirred him all up, he got all nervous and was trying his best to get out of the way of getting "shot" with the camera. I eased his concerns and got a great pic that tells a story, a story I'll never forget. His name was Harrison.

Our day from there was full of more and more to die for scenery. We took the national scenic highway along the Comumbian River Gorge, we drove along the Dalles, saw Horsetail Falls, Multnomah Falls, found a quaint restaurant called the Elephant Delicatessen. There were two very nice ladies that sat nearby and as we struck up a conversation, they insisted that we try some of their pumpkin pizza!

Throughout the day I made contact with Tiffany Davies. She wanted me to take pics of Savannah (6) and Olivia (almost 2). A lady from the Davies church invited us to stay at her beach house and so after

our last excursion through another Goodwill, we made a 1 1/2 hour drive to Lincoln City, Oregon. We scrambled to bed and awoke to a breath taking view of the Pacific Coast. Tiffany met me at the beach house at 11 and off we went, across the street to romp in the sand and sun. I was so nervous.... I had never taken beach photos before especially when the sun is high up. It is very difficult, especially with two little ones that are as excited as field mice. These were two very sweet little girls. I have to be careful here, but I must admit, Olivia reminded me so much of Miss. Beatrice but with Bensons personality and Savannah looks like Benson and has Miss. Beastrice's personality. I had a blast, and Tiffany was honey sweet. I loved her from the get go.

So, here ya go, a few from the session today and I'll post Oregon pics when I land safely home.

I was lucky to be a part of this photo shoot on Saturday. Stacie saw some of my work at

Caroline's Consignment Boutique and we set up a time to get together. Brynn, her daughter

is 5 now and she wanted to capture this time in her life. Brooklyn, is Stacie's niece and just

so happened to be in town for the day so she came along. So while Stacie was changing

Brynn's clothing, Brooklyn and I were doing some mini shoots. I was impressed at how

she was so natural at posing. She plans on going into marketing one day and I believe it.

I can tell that she is a true leader. Now Brynn, I believe she has big plans too, she's just

still a little dependent on her Mom now and I think it ought to be that way, especially

since I have two kiddos that are growing up too fast. Thanks Stacie for choosing me!

From time to time Molly Fuller meanders from her house on top of the hill to our valley in the woods. And that is exactly just what she decided to do today. Samuel comes running into the house declaring that the biggest weenie dog is in our front yard, it looks just like Charlie. It was a dog and it was the same brand as Charlie but no, it was Molly Fuller. Yep it was Molly Fuller, Mr. and Mrs. Fuller's dog and she was making herself right at home. It didn't take her long to find the cat chow and she began at once to indulge herself. Well, me being the photo geek that I am, and desiring to be just like the Pioneer Woman, I quickly went into PW mode, screamed into the house, put on my Pioneer Woman costume, loaded my camera with a CF card and out the door in haste to capture this very rare moment. I at once commanded Molly to sit, pose, and smile. And guess what, that is exactly just what she did for a split second and then she looked at me as though she knew that she had done the forbidden. She had run away from home. I think she does this just so Mr. and Mrs. Fuller will come looking for her, telling her how happy they are that she is safely back in the fold. So, if you ever run into Mr. Fuller at Fuller and Son Hardware Store, ask him about Molly, I'm sure he'll be glad to tell you all about her great adventures.

Back to school for me means, both of my kiddos are in school, time to myself, organizing what the summer has jumbled up, cleaning out the garage, cleaning my house, buying ONE instead of (3) Java Chip Frap's, much needed car repairs, quietness, riding in my car all by myself, starting some much needed college classes, visiting the library, shopping alone, and a myriad of other small pleasures I lost when I delved into motherhood. Although these moments don't last but for 7 hours, I soak them up as if facing the sun or a nice windy breeze.

Over the past few years I have grown to really like the Laman Library. I spend time there reading, catching up on college school work as well as the latest magazines on the shelves. The quietness is so inviting and I have always found the personnel to be very helpful and courteous. I also love the new cafe and the yummies that they sell. Today I dropped the kiddos off and headed to Pulaski Tech for a keyboarding class. When class was over I needed some new brake pads and some sort of belt to keep my car from squealing. My daughter informed me that it is beneath her to ride in our vehicle with such racket coming from unknown parts. I promised her that I would repair it today and she continued to read me the right act until I forced her to get out! So I called Stuart's Brakes on JFK and they were so nice, they came to Laman Library and got my car, took it to the shop, repaired it and returned it about 2 hours later. Okay, so then I went for a Starbucks and that's the rest of the story... until later.

Petit Jean Petting Zoo

For about 4 years we have been going to the Petit Jean Petting Zoo. Each time we go we have the best time. The owners have become our friends as well. All the animals are very kid friendly and the word no is never spoken to an excited kid. Each and every animal can be touched, held and hand fed. They have goats, kittens, cows, chickens, donkeys, dogs, ducks, a baby deer, horses, trail rides, a fox, a peacock, ferrets, rabbits, a pig, hamster, a skunk, a large barn to accommodate the whole family. We have made such great memories and have watched some of the animals grow up. We usually eat dinner at the Mather Lodge and then go on down to the Bear Caves and climb up and down the mountain. If we are there during the sunset hours we continue on to the lookout point and that is breathtaking. Hope you enjoy the photos. Some were taken on my iphone and other were taken on my Canon.

This is Dixie. Dixie has resided at the petting zoo since he was just a babe. He used to be terribly undisciplined, running about chewing on shoes strings and dragging customers by their pants leg. Maturity and 104 degree temperature must have tapered his bad manners.

I could just hear it coming, Mom could we please just have one more cat..... She know my weakness. I'd have a bundle of cats if life would just accommodate them. I love cats and that is a very honest statement. I have always, since childhood had a cat and sometimes bundles of cats. Gee it is so hard to say no, really really hard. This little tabby was absolutely fabulous.

These two ferrets were adorable. Most of the time they slept on their back, all laid out due to the heat.

I have a feeling by the look on the pony's face , this duck is a trouble maker.

I am having a blast with my new app. on my iphone. No matter how simple the subject is, each photo comes out unique and different. I have to admit that it gets wearisome to carry around my camera, download images, file them, upload and posts. My iphone is making this so simple for me. We spent about five hours working with this baby and as always, right at the end she became very drowsy and easy to work with. Some time ago I met the Benthal family while they were visiting our church. Their family became my friend and we met back up during campmeeting. Their daughter is entering her senior year in high school so we set up and took some shots of Kerri while they were here. Each year I look forward to seeing Arianna and just how much she has grown. I am amazed at the beauty of this child. I also enjoy building a relationship with her Mom and Dad and BOTH of her grandparents. I think it will be fun to be a part of their lives for many years to come.

This little trooper grunted, sighed and slept (somewhat!) LOL throughout the 3 hour session we had today! Reidar is the 4th child in the family with 3 older sisters and I'm sure all that grunting will come in handy one day. It was such a treat to work with Amy and Grandma Karen. This session was a result of the photo ads that I put in Rhea Lana's grab bags back in the spring sale. Each session is so fun and each little baby is so different in personality.
In the end we achieved positive results
